The Maxim Gorki class heavy cruisers were modern and influenced by Italian designs. They saw limited action in World War 2, in the Baltic and Black Seas, the ships in the Baltic being bottled up by German and Finnish minefields for most of the war.
Their armament was nine 7.1" guns, lighter antiaircraft guns, and six 21" torpedo tubes.
Here is the ONI drawing and entry for the Maxim Gorki heavy cruisers, and you might want to see the "2-D models" of the ships I created, at 1:700, 1:1200, and 1:1800 scales. There are no 1:700 injection molded plastic models available of these ships.
