New York class Battleship

New York and Texas were rebuilt in 1925-27. Their final secondary armament was 6x1 5" guns and 10x1 3" dual-purpose guns, along with many 40mm and 20mm antiaircraft guns. In 1941, the elevation of their 14" guns was raised to lengthen their range.

Both served in the Atlantic, often escorting convoys to ward off raiders, and were in on the North Africa landings. Texas was at Normandy. Both then went to the Pacific and were at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

It would have been interesting to see how they might have fared against the German battleships, if there had been a convoy battle.
